Please watch the video above for the full reviews

Reissued collectively under the title “Scorpions – Colours of Rock” are the following twelve album highlights from 1974 to 2007:

I also compare these with my original vinyl copies where I have them and the 2015 CD/DVD remasters.

These releases brings a special focus to their formative years, with particular attention to their first four albums.

Fly To The Rainbow (1974)

The sophomore album, “Fly To The Rainbow,” saw SCORPIONS veer into experimental waters, transitioning from the style of their debut “Lonesome Crow.” Serving as their own producers for the first time, the album teases the band’s future direction, displaying deep influences from hard rock. The reissue comes in transparent violet vinyl.

In Trance (1975)

The third album, “In Trance,” was pivotal as it heralded SCORPIONS’ breakthrough in Japan. It features hits like “In Trance” and “Night Lights,” the band’s first instrumental piece. Notably, this is SCORPIONS’ initial collaboration with producer Dieter Dierks, who became a lifelong associate. The reissue captures the nostalgia of the original artwork by Michael von Gimbut in transparent vinyl.

Virgin Killer (1976)

The fourth studio album, “Virgin Killer,” released in 1976, is a short but potent 35-minute journey. The album went gold in Japan and solidified their departure from psychedelic roots, confirming their hard rock credentials. This remastered edition is reissued on powder blue vinyl.

Beyond the highlighted first four albums, the collection includes “Humanity (Hour 1)” from 2007 and eight other classics, including “Taken By Force” (1977) on white vinyl, “Tokyo Tapes” (1978) on yellow vinyl, “Lovedrive” (1979) on red vinyl, and “Animal Magnetism” (1980) on red vinyl.

The collection also contains their iconic “Blackout” (1982) on crystal-clear vinyl and “Love At First Sting” (1984) on silver vinyl. “World Wide Live” (1985), capturing the band’s global tours, is reissued on transparent orange vinyl and “Savage Amusement” (1988) on transparent light-blue vinyl.

Collectively titled “Scorpions – Colours of Rock,” these twelve albums, spanning from 1974 to 2007, are an invitation to explore SCORPIONS’ rich history and witness the evolution of hard rock through their pioneering spirit.
