Almost Famous – Soundtrack Box Set Deluxe Edition –Unboxing Review

Almost Famous: A Soundtrack Box Set Worth Every Penny (and Then Some)

One of my favourite films of all time, Almost Famous, has a super deluxe edition soundtrack box set that has dropped dramatically in price — to around £40–£50. I couldn’t keep that to myself; it’s simply too good not to share.
A Classic Revisited
Almost Famous isn’t just one of the best music-based films ever made — it’s one of the best films full stop. Cameron Crowe’s semi-autobiographical journey through 1970s rock culture captures everything we love about the era: the excitement, the chaos, and the soul of rock ’n’ roll.

The Super Deluxe Edition soundtrack celebrates that magic beautifully. Spanning five CDs, it contains:
Nearly three and a half hours of music (47 songs plus 18 memorable quotes from the film)
A whole disc dedicated to the fictional band Stillwater
Nancy Wilson’s original 37-minute score
Stunning packaging with memorabilia, posters, mock-ups of Rolling Stone magazine, ticket stubs, and gorgeous stills from the film

The presentation is just as nostalgic as the music — the outer slipcase even looks like a 1970s school exercise book, which instantly takes you back. Inside you’ll find faux adverts for the likes of The Who’s Quadrophenia, Stevie Wonder’s Innervisions, Cat Stevens’ Foreigner, and Lynyrd Skynyrd’s debut. Every page feels like opening a time capsule.

The Music
The tracklist is a dream for anyone who loves early-’70s rock:
Led Zeppelin, Jethro Tull, The Beach Boys, Elton John, The Seeds, Neil Young, Stevie Wonder, MC5, Little Feat, and many more.
The Stillwater songs — penned by Nancy Wilson — sound like the best Allman Brothers band that never existed. Highlights include Fever Dog and a few outtakes that really show how lovingly the music was crafted for the film.
And of course, there’s “Tiny Dancer” — the version from that unforgettable scene on the tour bus where the band reconnects after chaos and heartbreak. Pure magic.

A Soundtrack You’ll Keep Playing
Here’s the thing: as much as I love the film, I probably listen to the soundtrack even more. With music, I never tire of hearing new details or letting it soundtrack new moments in life. This set captures the feel of 1973 perfectly — even if Deep Purple’s “Burn” sneaks in from 1974!
For fans of Almost Famous, this is an essential addition to your collection — and at this new price, it’s a no-brainer.
So, have you got the box set?

Do you love the film as much as I do? Let me know in the comments.
