Danny Bryant : Rise : Album Review

Danny Bryant’s “Rise”: Into the Heart of Blues Rock

This an album that’s been resonating deeply with me. We’re diving into the world of UK blues rock with the talented UK guitarist, Danny Bryant. “Rise” marks his 15th album release, with 13 studio albums and two live ones under his belt. For some, Danny might be a new name, but his extensive discography speaks volumes about his dedication to the genre.

The Essence of “Rise”
If you have a penchant for raw, gritty blues rock vocals coupled with melodic and emotionally charged guitar riffs, “Rise” is your go-to album. The title track, “Rise,” sets the tone with its rich Hammond Organ sounds, gritty vocals, and a classic blues shuffle rhythm. It’s evident from the get-go that Danny lives and breathes the blues. While we have the likes of Joe Bonamassa making waves internationally, Danny Bryant stands as a beacon of blues rock in the UK.

Album Highlights
“Animal”: A blues shuffle that carries a hint of Billy Idol in Danny’s voice.

“Louise”: A slow blues number about lost love, filled with emotion and a guitar solo that speaks directly to the heart.

“Scarlett Street”: A ballad reminiscent of Roy Buchanan and Dire Straits, showcasing some stunning guitar playing and vocals.

“Into the Slipstream”: My personal favorite, this uplifting track has a gospel feel and culminates in a heart-wrenching guitar solo.

“Julienne”: A love ballad with a soft touch, showcasing Danny’s gentler vocal side.

“Silver and Gold”: A slow blues shuffle with fiery guitar riffs, reminiscent of Gary Moore.

“I Want You”: A positive love song with an acoustic intro, it feels like a theme for a classic cop show. Interestingly, it’s a cover of a Bob Dylan song.

“Drown”: A spontaneous jam that emerged during sound checks, this track showcases Danny’s raw talent as he lets loose – I would have loved this to have gone on a lot longer!

Danny Bryant’s “Rise” is a testament to the enduring spirit of blues rock. It’s a journey through love, heartbreak, and raw emotion, all wrapped up in masterful guitar work and soulful vocals. If you’re looking to immerse yourself in the world of blues rock, this album is a must-listen.
