Tedeschi Trucks Band & Leon Russell – Mad Dogs & Englishmen Revisited (LIVE AT LOCKN’)

A glorious celebration of one of rock’s most iconic live moments

Tedeschi Trucks Band, the soul-drenched powerhouse led by Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks, are releasing Mad Dogs & Englishmen Revisited (LIVE AT LOCKN’) — and this is more than just another live album. It’s a heartfelt tribute to one of the most legendary tours in rock history — Joe Cocker and Leon Russell’s raucous, joyful, madcap 1970 “Mad Dogs & Englishmen” tour — reimagined and re-ignited for a new generation.

Out on September 12th via Fantasy Records on CD, vinyl and all streaming platforms, this concert finally gets a proper release – and what a set it is!

Originally performed at LOCKN’ Festival in 2015, this 20-strong collective of musicians brought together members of the original Mad Dogs lineup – including Rita Coolidge, Claudia Lennear, and Chris Stainton – with a stellar cast of modern greats like Chris Robinson, Warren Haynes, Dave Mason, and many more. All under the spiritual guidance of Leon Russell himself, who returned to help lead this unforgettable event.

“You could feel this was one of those shows you’ll be thinking about for the rest of your life.” – Derek Trucks
“It was a dream… a memory I’ll always cherish.” – Susan Tedeschi

Whether you were lucky enough to be there or you’re just discovering the magic for the first time, this is the kind of album that celebrates the timeless communal joy of music — the sort of thing that lifts your spirits and fills the room with soul.

This also ties in with TTB’s excellent 2021 documentary Learning to Live Together: The Return of Mad Dogs & Englishmen — if you’ve seen it, you’ll already know just how deep the love and respect runs here.
