Billy Idol Marks 40 Years of “Rebel Yell” with Deluxe Edition: A Dive into the Past and Unheard Gems
Billy Idol is to celebrate the 40th anniversary of his seminal album “Rebel Yell” with a deluxe expanded edition, slated for release on April 26 via Capitol/UMe. The release previously unreleased material, demos from the era, and a fresh remix that promises to breathe new life into this classic album.
“Rebel Yell,” originally in November 1983, and catapulted Billy Idol from punk provocateur to mainstream rock royalty. With hits like “Eyes Without a Face,” “Flesh for Fantasy,” “Rebel Yell,” and “Catch My Fall,” Idol etched his name into the annals of music history. The album’s success was monumental, achieving twice-platinum status and solidifying Idol’s place as a rock icon.
The upcoming deluxe edition offers a look into the “Rebel Yell” sessions with a selection of previously unreleased songs and demos. Among the gems is the Poolside remix of “Eyes Without A Face,” promising a fresh take on this iconic track. Additionally, there is the never-before-heard Billy Idol/Steve Stevens original “Best Way Out of Here” and Idol’s cover of the Rose Royce single “Love Don’t Live Here Anymore,” both from the album’s original recording sessions.

The “Rebel Yell” 40th Anniversary Deluxe Edition will be available in various formats to cater to every fan’s preference, including a 2xLP set with a wide-spined gatefold and an extensive 12-page booklet, a limited CD edition PocketPac with a vinyl-look disc and a 24-page booklet, a standard CD Jewelcase for the US version, and a digital album option.
