Thin Lizzy’s 1976 Box Set
Thin Lizzy are set to release a fantastic new box set titled 1976, celebrating a pivotal year in the band’s history. This comprehensive set focuses on two iconic albums from that year: Jailbreak and Johnny The Fox.
The Albums: A Legendary Year
Jailbreak, released in March 1976, features some of Thin Lizzy’s most legendary tracks, including the anthem “The Boys Are Back In Town” and the hard-hitting title track “Jailbreak.” Just six months later, in October, the band followed up with Johnny The Fox, an album that showcases their versatility with tracks like “Johnny The Fox Meets Jimmy The Weed” and the hit single “Don’t Believe A Word.”
Reflecting on these classic albums, Thin Lizzy guitarist Scott Gorham says, “The great thing was the writing, it was killer. I still don’t know if it was just something that happened naturally or because the pressure was on. But there are songs on these records we still play now. Songs that will always be in the Thin Lizzy set.”
The Box Set: What’s Inside?
The 1976 box set is a 5CD + Blu-ray collection.

- Remastered Original Stereo Mixes of both Jailbreak and Johnny The Fox.
- New Stereo Mixes of both albums, offering a fresh take on these classics.
- Two Discs of Outtakes: Dive into the creative process with alternate versions and unreleased tracks.
- Live In Cleveland: A WMMS radio broadcast of Thin Lizzy’s live performance in May ’76.
- Blu-ray: Featuring Dolby Atmos, 5.1 surround sound, and high-resolution stereo mixes, this disc takes the listening experience to the next level.
- The collection is housed in a 10″ x 10″ presentation box, complete with a 40-page hardcover book filled with sleeve notes by Mark Blake.
UMR is also releasing two special colored vinyl editions of Jailbreak and Johnny The Fox. These versions feature the new stereo mixes, making them a must-have for any serious collector.
