Camel A 32-disc Super Deluxe Box set ‘Air Born: The MCA & Decca Years 1973-1984’
Exciting news about one of the PROG genre’s most iconic bands, Camel. As they mark the 50th anniversary of their self-titled debut album, Camel is set to release a monumental 32-disc super deluxe boxed set titled ‘Air Born: The MCA & Decca Years 1973-1984’. This comprehensive collection will encompass every Camel album and single from that era, along with previously unheard material, Blu-rays, and a beautifully illustrated book complete with essays and a poster.
For vinyl fan, Camel is also releasing remastered versions of four of their most iconic albums on both coloured and black vinyl. These albums include their 1973 debut ‘Camel’, the 1975 ‘The Snow Goose’, 1976’s ‘Moonmadness’, and the 1981 release ‘Nude’.
What’s Inside the Box Set?
The ‘Air Born: The MCA & Decca Years 1973-1984’ set is a treasure trove for fans. It features:
- Newly remastered versions of every Camel album and single from 1973 to 1984.
- Fresh mixes of three iconic concerts from the 70s by Stephen W Tayler.
- Previously unreleased out-takes and BBC Radio ‘In Concert’ appearances.
- Five Blu-ray discs, including new stereo and 5.1 Surround Sound versions of albums by Stephen W Tayler,
- promotional videos, BBC TV appearances, and the 1984 concert film ‘Pressure Points’.
- A richly illustrated book penned by Mark Powell and a unique poster.
The Vinyl Releases:
Camel (1973): The band’s debut and one of their most iconic albums. Available as a remastered LP on standard black vinyl and a special edition coloured vinyl for fans.
The Snow Goose (1975): Inspired by the success of ‘The White Rider’ suite, this album is a conceptual masterpiece. The remastered version is available on black and coloured vinyl.
Moonmadness (1976): The last album by the original line-up, each track reflects the personality of a band member. Available on black and coloured vinyl.
Nude (1981): Based on the true story of a marooned Japanese soldier, this album is a poignant reflection on war and humanity. Available on black and coloured vinyl.
A Brief Look at Camel’s Legacy:
Formed in 1971 in Guildford, Surrey, Camel, led by guitarist Andrew Latimer, has been a stalwart in the progressive rock scene. With fourteen studio albums, numerous live albums, and DVDs, their influence is undeniable. They’ve inspired artists like Steven Wilson, Marillion, and Opeth, and have been hailed as “the great unsung heroes of 70s prog rock” by renowned rock journalists.
Despite multiple line-up changes, Camel, under the leadership of Andrew Latimer, has continued to produce music and tour extensively. Their recent performance at The Royal Albert Hall in 2018 was a testament to their enduring legacy.
All these releases are set to drop on 24 November 2023, and pre-orders are open now. Don’t miss out on this golden opportunity to own a piece of progressive rock history!

Any idea of a release date?
November this year – I have added the full track listing and pre-order links to the webpage – Phil
Finally we get a dang release date. It was announced earlier this year but due to reasons it got deferred. Finally I can obtain most of Camel’s albums. Now if we can get something for Supertramp, the world will be at peace.
