Cats In Space : Time Machine : Vinyl & CD Review

Album Review: Time Machine by Cats in Space

Watch the full review in the video!

Cats in Space has done it again with Time Machine, a nostalgic yet fresh dive into the best of classic rock. From the thrilling opener “Time Machine” to anthemic tracks like “Ockham’s Razor,” the album is loaded with soaring choruses, standout guitar solos, and punchy, melodic riffs that call back to Queen, ELO, and Boston. Daman Edwards’ vocals shine, particularly on the emotionally charged “My Father’s Eyes,” capturing the raw, timeless quality of Cats in Space’s sound.

This record is a masterclass in craftsmanship, each song structured to lift spirits and bring listeners back to that rock ‘n’ roll high. With stunning contributions from each band member and polished production, Time Machine is an experience that’ll make you want to crank up the volume. The band’s covers of classics like John Miles’ “Music” and Slade’s “How Does It Feel” are also highlights, giving fresh life to beloved tracks.

Whether you’re a longtime fan or new to Cats in Space, Time Machine is a vibrant reminder of rock’s power to heal, uplift, and celebrate life’s big and small moments. This album isn’t just music—it’s a journey, and one you won’t want to miss.

I’m now a really big fan of Cats In Space, and I have Phil and Now Spinning Magazine to thank for that, for it was through Phil citing ‘Kickstart The Sun’ as his ‘top album of 2022’ that I first decided to check them out. Upon first hearing that album, I loved it and I’ve followed them and collected their music ever since. I’ve since seen them live, on two different tours at two different venues, and they deliver the goods like no other current band. I couldn’t wait to get hold of the new ‘Time Machine’ album, and it is a wonderful step-up! If you love great, uplifting music and are fond of much of the classic pop and rock, from the 70s and 80s, you will also love how the Cats are keeping that tradition alive for a new generation, with a freshness that keeps the best and reinvents the thrill of great melodies, great lyrics and with a rock-punch that will knock your socks off! Plus Damien, on vocals, has just the most fantabulous voice, too.
If you haven’t yet joined the party, you gotta go check ‘em out!
