Chart Watch – CD Vinyl Sales Analysis – New Release News – Christmas Week
With no album managing to top 20,000 chart sales in the past week, Taylor Swift did what I predicted and found herself back in the number one position with 17,109 sales
5,055 CDs
4,147 vinyl albums
14 cassettes
3 digital downloads
7,690 sales-equivalent streams.
Cliff Richard made it back to number 2 with 15,837 sales
14,743 CDs, and
305 vinyl albums.
344 downloads
445 from sales-equivalent streams.
Michael Buble got to number 3 with 14,300 sales. It has made the top three in five different years, including all of the last three.
Together the top three artists sold 46,946 albums.
That’s just 4.59% of the biggest ever combined sales for a top three Christmas album chart
In 2000 The Beatles compilation was at number 1 with (422,042 sales), followed by Westlife’s second album, Coast To Coast (305,245 sales) and Robbie Williams’ third solo album, Sing When You’re Winning third (295,802 sales) was at number 3.
The overall overall top three back then equaled 1,023,089 sales (976,117 CDs, 46,013 cassettes, 566 vinyl albums and 393 minidiscs).
The combined sales of this week’s top three would suffice only for a No.37 position now.
