T2 : It’ll All Work Out In Boomland : Long Lost PROG Classic Get a Vinyl Reissue
I’m reviewing a fantastic reissue of a lost prog rock gem: It’ll All Work Out in Boomland by T2. Originally released in 1970, this album was largely overlooked at the time despite receiving a considerable advance and some airplay. It’s a band that slipped through the cracks, but thanks to this new vinyl reissue from Decca more people can now discover the brilliance of T2. (There is also a 3CD Version available).
T2 consisted of the extraordinarily talented Keith Cross on guitar and keyboards, Peter Dunton on drums and vocals (also the primary songwriter), and Bernard Jinks on bass and vocals. The album’s blend of hard rock and prog is powerful and unique, with Cross’s guitar work being a particular standout. His fluid, lightning-fast playing easily puts him in the league of contemporaries like Tony Iommi and Ritchie Blackmore, yet T2 somehow flew under the radar.
The album consists of just four tracks, with side two dedicated to the 21-minute epic “Morning,” a sprawling and beautifully composed piece. The opening track, “In Circles,” is a perfect mix of heavy riffs and delicate moments, while “No More White Horses” showcases the band’s more reflective side with a haunting melody that sticks with you long after listening.
Keith Cross’s career was short-lived; he walked away from the music business not long after this album’s release, making It’ll All Work Out in Boomland even more of a treasure. The new remaster on vinyl sounds fantastic, bringing out all the intricate details of the production.
For those who prefer digital, the 3-CD version includes unreleased tracks from the same era. Whether you’re a long-time fan or discovering T2 for the first time like I was, this album is an essential addition to any prog or hard rock collection. Highly recommended!
