Double-dipping – Machine Head : Deep Purple
‘What album do you own the most copies of?
It might look like the people in white coats should have me on their radar!
I did not set out to have this many copies, in fact sometimes I felt I was simply rescuing some from record fairs or thrift stores.
The rundown
- Deep Purple : Machine Head (Purple Records UK Vinyl 1972)
- Deep Purple : Machine Head (Purple Records French Vinyl 1972) + lyrics sheet – track titles missing from back cover)
- Deep Purple : Machine Head (Warner Brother Records USA Vinyl 1972)
Records is removed from the centre of the gatefold. - Deep Purple : Machine Head (German fan club edition Vinyl 1972)
Incorrect artwork was used (top left of photo) the photo was used without the black border, which meant you could see it was peice of metal leaning against a door. - Deep Purple : Machine Head (Purple Records UK Cassette 1972)
Incase I needed a copy away from home - Deep Purple : Machine Head (EMI Records 1st CD 1990)
- Deep Purple : Machine Head (25th Anniversary edition 2CD 1997) This is the version to get as it contains the remixes
- Deep Purple : Machine Head (SACD HiRes Edition 2003)
includes the QUAD mixes - Deep Purple : Machine Head (40th Anniversary Deluxe Edition 4CD/DVD – boxset 2012)
Contents of box set
Deep Purple : Machine Head (2012 remaster CD)
Deep Purple : Machine Head (Roger Glover Remixes CD)
Deep Purple : Machine Head (QUAD SQ Sterio 2012 remaster CD)
Deep Purple : Machine Head (in concert 1972 CD)
Deep Purple : Machine Head (DVD 5.1 remaster DVD)
- Deep Purple : Machine Head (DVD Classic Albums – The Story of 2002)
Also in this photo – the original sheet music book (1972)
Is there anything missing?
Yes, the original QUAD Vinyl edition which included some different mixes (although this is on the box set and SACD).
After all this i should say it is my favorite Deep Purple album, but that would be Burn!
NB: I forgot to add the Machine Head tribute album!
