Billy Morrison Unveils Star-Studded Solo Album “The Morrison Project”
Billy Morrison, the renowned British guitarist celebrated for his dynamic role alongside Billy Idol, is set to release his latest solo venture, “The Morrison Project.” Scheduled for release on April 19th through TLG/Virgin Music Group, Morrison’s third solo album emerges as a beacon of creativity and collaboration in a time marked by global unrest and uncertainty.
With the release of the album’s first single, “Drowning,” accompanied by a compelling music video (see below), Morrison delves into the collective consciousness of a world grappling with pandemics, economic downturns, and social upheavals. “Drowning” serves as a creative outlet for Morrison, channeling the pervasive sense of anxiety and discontent into a powerful musical expression.
“The Morrison Project” is a gathering of musical titans. Morrison has enlisted an impressive roster of guest artists, including rock legends Ozzy Osbourne and Billy Idol, rap icon DMC, industrial pioneer Al Jourgensen, guitar virtuosos Steve Vai and Steve Stevens, the incomparable Linda Perry, powerhouse drummer Tommy Clufetos, and the versatile John5, among others. This eclectic mix of talent promises an electrifying collection of 12 tracks that span various musical genres, showcasing Morrison’s versatility and creative vision.
Produced by Billy Morrison himself, with mixing by Barry Pointer and mastering by Dave Donnelly, the album was recorded in Los Angeles across several studios. Each track is a collaborative effort, born from Morrison’s partnerships with his distinguished guests. Reflecting on the creative process, Morrison shares, “I truly believe that making music without any preconceptions or goals yields the most creative and enjoyable results.
