Beth Hart To Release A Tribute To Led Zeppelin” (Provogue Records)
Release Date – February 25th 2022
Like many, I was first made aware of Beth Hart via her work with Joe Bonamassa. From there I went off to discover her solo albums and was hooked. On her classic 2005 album ‘Live At Paradiso’ she performs a totally electric and passionate version of Led Zeppelin’s Whole Lotta Love. I remember thinking at the time what would other Led Zepellin songs sound like if they were sung by Beth? Well, that question is about to be answered by the news of this release on Provogue Records.
The first track to be released is her version of Good Times, Bad Times. The backing is how you want to hear Led Zeppelin. The song bristles with latent power and then there is Beth’s voice, she feels each word, interpreting each emotion with determination, grit but with her unique balance of strength and vulnerability. This is going to be one hell of a ride! Phil Aston
Beth Hart: A Tribute To Led Zeppelin’ is Produced by Rob Cavallo.
On covering Stairway To Heaven Beth says “I wanted to connect to the feeling of the original track. For me, I started thinking of a woman who lost her way, and was in a horrible loveless place,” she recalls. Reflecting back on the album and it’s epiphanic recording sessions, Beth says: “I was able to exorcise a lot of demons making this record. It was also just a really special experience creating with such amazing, compassionate, and respectful people as Rob, Doug, and my husband. Art and music are about seeking the truth, and you need friends and people you trust around you when you do that. The overall experience just felt like being with family during very uncertain times.” Beth Hart
