Van Der Graaf Generator – The Charisma Years – 20 disc set with 17 CDs and 3 Blu-Ray discs.
This is an incredible box set and for someone like me who only had 3 albums prior to this a fantastic way of immersing myself in this bands back catalogue.
In the video, I review the box and go through the book and contents. The remastering is superb, I have not had a chance to listen to every disc but what I have heard so far has been brilliant.
This incredible box set includes all eight of the albums released on the Charisma Label and they have all been remastered. Some albums such as H to He Who Am the Only One, Pawn Hearts, Godbluff and Still Life have been remixed from the multi-track tapes in stereo and 5.1 These are also featured on 4 extra CDs and two Blu ray discs. There are also two CDs of an unreleased concert from Paris in 1976. Many box sets like this seem to exclude any BBC sessions this one includes them all!
The Blu ray includes rare TV footage, Promo Films and the 68 page hard back book is just stunning. The package is similar in design to the recent Tangerine Dream Box Sets.
